Coral Gables, "The City Beautiful", is just south of downtown Miami. It is known for its Mediterranean Revival style of architecture championed by city planner George Merrick in the early part of the twentieth century. The Biltmore Hotel is perhaps the best example and is one of only three National Landmarks in Miami-Dade County.
"The Gables" as it's called by natives is a planned community of stately homes and condominiums, casual and fine dining restaurants, upscale shopping and only minutes to Miami International Airport, South Beach and Coconut Grove.
Miracle Mile, a brick-paved area of Coral Way between Le Jeune Road and Douglas Road is popular among residents and tourists. Upscale boutique shopping for the whole family, restaurants with exquisite cuisine, casual cafes and art galleries line the street.
Coral Gables is also home to the main campus of the world-renowned University of Miami. There are over 15,000 students, both undergraduate and graduate from across the United States and 110 different countries, in 12 different colleges and schools. It is a leading research university, a mecca of cultural and social activities and home of the UM Hurricanes.
The city has exceptional services including a Class 1 Fire Department, a fully accredited Police Department and an exceptional Building and Zoning Department. There are numerous historical sites, great parks and recreation for the entire family, the highest concentration of live theatre and a thriving business sector.
It's no wonder that the real estate in this area of Greater Miami is popular among a wide range of demographics. Contact an Ocean Crest Realty Group professional to learn more about this exceptional city.
